About Sjo Anne Hoogcarspel

Sjo Anne loves art, design and architecture. She also studied art history. Creativity and innovation are close to her heart. She is an experienced and proactive lawyer, valued by clients for her ability to quickly grasp their business needs and priorities.

Sjo Anne is an intellectual property lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience at leading law firms. She specialises in trademarks, designs, copyright, unfair competition, art law, trade secrets and commercial contracts. She advises on strategy, policy and the enforcement of intellectual property rights, combining in-depth legal knowledge with a clear and effective communication style.

She has extensive experience in litigation before national courts and European institutions, including EUIPO and the Court of Justice of the European Union. In addition to litigation, she is actively involved in mediation and in negotiating and structuring solutions that help clients move forward, both in and outside formal proceedings. She also advises art institutions on art law and has particular expertise in licensing, distribution, agency and franchising agreements, as well as other commercial contracts in the fields of IP/IT and art law. She regularly advises on IP/IT aspects in M&A transactions.

Sjo Anne began her career at a Magic Circle firm, where she gained valuable experience in working on complex international matters.

In 2020, she founded Mount Law with Josine.
